Terms of Service for Astra Website
The following terms and conditions govern all use of the Astra websites, developer tools, and services, including but not limited to the Astra SDK, CLI, and any content, features, or services made available at or through Astra.ai (the “Website”) (collectively, the “Services”). The Services are owned and operated by Astra (“Astra”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
The Services are offered subject to your acceptance without modification of all of the terms and conditions contained herein and all other operating rules, policies (including, without limitation, Astra’s Privacy Policy) and procedures that may be published from time to time (collectively, the “Agreement”).
Please read this Agreement carefully before accessing or using the Services. By accessing or using any part of the Services, you agree to become bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions, then you may not access the Services.
Scope of Services
Astra provides:
- Open-source developer tools, including SDKs and command-line interfaces (CLI)
- Documentation, website access, and optional authentication features
- Related infrastructure and developer-facing resources
The SDK and CLI are provided as open-source software under the Apache License, Version 2.0. These Terms apply primarily to:
- The Website
- Any hosted or optional features
- Authentication systems
- Any non-open-source components of the Services
Your Astra Account
If you create an account on the Website (including via email magic link authentication), you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and access to your email.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Not impersonate any person or entity
- Immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
Astra will not be liable for any acts or omissions by you, including any damages incurred as a result of unauthorized access to your account.
Open Source and Developer Tools
The Astra SDK and CLI are:
- Open-source
- Licensed under the Apache License 2.0
Your use, modification, and distribution of these tools are governed by that license.
The SDK and CLI:
- Do not include tracking, analytics, or telemetry by default
- Do not collect personal data unless explicitly disclosed in future updates
Nothing in these Terms restricts your rights under the Apache License.
Responsibility of Contributors
If you post material, code, or content to the Services (including repositories, documentation, or community features) (“Content”), you are entirely responsible for that Content and any harm resulting from it.
By making Content available, you represent and warrant that:
- It does not infringe any intellectual property rights
- It complies with all applicable licenses
- It does not contain malicious code (including viruses, worms, or Trojan horses)
- It is not unlawful, abusive, or misleading
Astra has the right (but not the obligation) to:
- Remove or refuse any Content
- Suspend or terminate access for violations
Responsibility of Website Visitors
Astra has not reviewed, and cannot review, all material posted through the Services.
You are responsible for:
- Taking precautions to protect your systems and data
- Evaluating the accuracy and safety of any content
Astra disclaims any responsibility for harm resulting from:
- Use of the Services
- Downloading or using third-party content
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data
- Disrupt or interfere with the Services
- Use the Services to distribute malware or harmful code
- Abuse infrastructure or degrade performance for others
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access at our sole discretion for violations of this section.
Third-Party Services
The Services may integrate or rely on third-party services, including but not limited to analytics, hosting, and authentication providers.
These may include:
- PostHog (analytics)
- Axiom (logging and telemetry)
Astra does not control and is not responsible for:
- Third-party services
- Their availability, performance, or data practices
Your use of such services is subject to their respective terms.
Third-Party Infrastructure and Smart Contracts
Astra relies on third-party infrastructure, protocols, and software components to provide its Services, including but not limited to smart contract systems, account abstraction providers, and blockchain networks.
These may include, without limitation, services provided by ZeroDev and other third-party technologies (collectively, “Third-Party Infrastructure”).
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Astra does not own, control, or operate any Third-Party Infrastructure
- Such infrastructure may contain bugs, vulnerabilities, or security risks
- Transactions executed via smart contracts are irreversible and may result in loss of funds or data
- Blockchain networks are inherently experimental and subject to failures, forks, congestion, and attacks
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
Astra shall not be responsible or liable for any loss, damage, or harm resulting from:
- Bugs, exploits, or vulnerabilities in Third-Party Infrastructure
- Failures or unexpected behavior of smart contracts
- Network-level issues, including congestion or consensus failures
- Unauthorized access, exploits, or attacks affecting third-party systems
Your use of the Services involving blockchain or smart contracts is entirely at your own risk.
You are solely responsible for:
- Reviewing and understanding the risks of smart contract interactions
- Verifying the integrity of third-party systems you rely on
- Securing your own keys, credentials, and infrastructure
Astra makes no representations or warranties regarding the reliability, security, or performance of any Third-Party Infrastructure.
Analytics and Website Data
While the SDK and CLI do not track usage, the Website may collect limited data through analytics and telemetry tools.
This may include:
- Anonymous usage data
- Device and browser information
- Interaction events
This data is used solely to:
- Improve the Services
- Monitor performance
- Diagnose issues
Intellectual Property
This Agreement does not transfer any intellectual property from Astra to you.
All rights, title, and interest in and to:
- The Website
- Branding, logos, and design
- Non-open-source components
remain the property of Astra.
The SDK and CLI are governed separately under the Apache License 2.0.
Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or improvements:
- Such feedback is non-confidential and non-proprietary
- Astra is free to use, modify, and incorporate it without restriction or compensation
Changes to the Services
Astra reserves the right to:
- Modify or discontinue any part of the Services
- Introduce new features or tools
Such changes may occur without notice.
Termination
Astra may terminate or suspend your access to all or any part of the Services at any time, with or without cause or notice.
You may stop using the Services at any time.
All provisions which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including:
- Intellectual property provisions
- Disclaimers
- Limitation of liability
- Indemnification
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS”.
Astra DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- MERCHANTABILITY
- FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
- NON-INFRINGEMENT
Astra does not warrant that:
- The Services will be error-free
- Access will be uninterrupted
- Any defects will be corrected
Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL Astra, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:
- ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
- LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION
- COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES
WHETHER ARISING IN CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, OR OTHERWISE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- Astra’S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 USD OR THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU (IF ANY), WHICHEVER IS LOWER
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Astra, its contributors, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the Services
- Your violation of this Agreement
- Your violation of any third-party rights
Changes to These Terms
Astra reserves the right to modify or replace any part of this Agreement at its sole discretion.
It is your responsibility to check periodically for updates.
Your continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of those changes.
Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Miscellaneous
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between Astra and you.
If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable:
- That provision shall be modified or removed
- The remaining provisions shall remain in full force
You may not assign your rights under this Agreement without consent. Astra may assign its rights without restriction.
